Lansdowne Rd, Holland Park

Lansdowne road, with its large landscaped areas and big green spaces, is an area that is in high demand, Lux Construction was asked to take on this project in Holland Park because the necessary skills and expertise were proving difficult to find elsewhere. The fact that we can offer all round design and build capacity on buildings with listed status, sets us apart from our competitors, and make us an immediate choice for projects such as this.

A common problem that we find with listed buildings, and this was no exception, is that behind a rather grand exterior lies a poorly laid out space that can be a hindrance to modern day living. Although the property had a rear garden, access was difficult and uninviting from the majority of the house.

Lux Construction secured planning permission to extend into the basement and install a large conservatory of the ground floor, no mean feat on property such as this. The conservatory was fitted out to become a TV and sitting room, adjacent to the main dining area.

The kitchen as it was just didn’t work for the owners; with an extensive refit to include a central island complete with hob, the available workspace was immediately doubled. Of the two bathrooms in the property, one has separate bath and shower installed with the floor and wall being tiled in luxurious black veined marble.

The second bathroom benefitted from grey marble tiling and a shower clad in slate, both perfectly complimenting the avant-garde glass wash basins.

A real talking point of the finished project is the new deck sitting above the conservatory. Something quite rare in a city such as London is open space, for Lux Construction to complete this for the owners was a real privilege.

The floor levels inside the property were something that had bothered the owners for years. During the complete refit we were able to address this, and remove altogether some of the steps between rooms that had been in place previously.

To finish the two upstairs bedrooms were combined to create one beautiful master bedroom, with a large bay window as an added feature. The owners have since contacted Lux Construction to let us know this is now their favourite room in the house.
