Holland Pk, Holland Park

Again in Holland Park Lux Construction worked on a listed building with terrific results. This is a fine example of what can be achieved with industry leading professionals, and a creative workforce. Being a large, detached house in a prime location, also benefiting from a larger than average garden the owners, knowing Lux Constructions standards in particular with listed buildings, thought we were an natural choice to carry out the renovation.

With the existing living space already being acceptable to the owners, on this occasion we were not asked to extend but to modernise the property throughout; without compromising the grandeur of the existing building. As with all listed buildings, regulations as to what we could and couldn’t do were strict; during renovation the frontage appearance had to remain precisely as it was.

Internally we were allowed a bit more free reign as to what we could design. Some areas such as the main stairs, the hallway and the formal reception room had minor adjustments completed, to preserve some of the wonderful features that were already in place. Meanwhile the kitchen and bathroom were completely refurbished to provide luxury, modern suites, whilst still in keeping with the elegance that flowed throughout the rest of the property.

The owners requested that a two storey extension be completed out into the rear garden; after consultation with our planners a design was agreed upon and a two storey external glass wall was built, to overlook the modernised garden whilst blending in with the existing structure and design of the house.

Through our past experience, we have found that it is always more difficult to sympathetically expand a listed building. It is always vital to be thorough with the design and to revisit it as many times as is necessary before agreeing on a final decision. Our team of designers are key to this, and are made up of some of the best minds in the business.
