Hay’s Mews, Piccadilly

Located between Piccadilly Circus and Hyde Park, our project at Hays Mews involved extensive renovation throughout. The owners wanted more from the existing property, and knew it had the potential to be so much more than it currently was. Quite rightly they approached some of most prestigious renovation firms in London to obtain the best price and finish available, before coming to the decision that Lux Construction could provide this.

This property is a great example of what can be done with city homes. With the right company completing the work, more and more homeowners are beginning to realise the true potential of their property. As is all too common with older properties the design and layout made poor use of the available space, particularly from a modern day perspective. A poorly maintained terrace swallowed up some prime space, and the interior floor plan was ineffective for the owner’s needs.

As with so many of Lux Constructions’ projects, we were asked to install a large, multi-room basement complete with a home theatre. For a traditional feel, natural stone was used for the interior walls providing a contrast to the modern fittings, used throughout the finished renovation. As always when installing electrical equipment the wiring is discretely hidden within the wall; the appliances, when not in use, can be stored out of sight.

In the loft we created a bedroom complete with an en-suite bath. The client chose a copper-clad enamelled bath as a real focal point of the room, beautifully complementing the other interior design.

Basement and loft conversions are standard for Lux Construction, but this property really allowed us to be creative and go above and beyond what we are normally requested to do.

Our in house construction and design teams worked as one to create a modern terrace, on a previously wasted rooftop space. Wooden decking, railings and fittings were all installed with the existing neighbourhoods’ appearance in mind, and the clients’ ideas at the forefront. For anyone who likes entertaining, opening out a space like this really gives the freedom to do so without being overlooked by others.
