Denbigh St, Victoria

In the case of Denbigh, Victoria Lux Construction were asked to provide loft and basement conversions, as well as complete refurbishment on a building under listed status. Located in one of London’s prime locations, between Vincent Square and the Chelsea Bridge, it can often prove difficult to obtain the necessary permissions on properties in this area. Employing the services of someone as highly rated as Lux Construction can often assure the planners, and add weight to an application such as this.

As with so many properties in this area, the building had begun to deteriorate from what it once was. The client requested an extensive renovation that would include re-plastering every room and laying new hardwood floors for the upper storeys of the property. To expand further the basement and loft were converted to fit in with the luxury living space throughout the rest of house.

The client already had in mind what they would like to do with the basement; this included a wine cellar and a home theatre. A common problem with basements is the ambient temperate and lack of sunlight. These of course are perfect conditions for a wine cellar, whereas the home theatre required a fully controllable light and heating system, whilst benefiting from several feet of earth between the surround sound system and the neighbours.

In comparison to the basement conversion, the Lift conversion proved relatively straightforward. With the inclusion of two bedrooms, an ensuite and modern light fittings and controls throughout, what was once an underutilised space became an important part of the home.
