Lux Construction offers outstanding turnkey services, whether it be planning consents to listed buildings or basement conversions.
Lux Construction differs from other contractors in the sense that we only ever divide our resource between a maximum of three projects, at any one time; this allows us to ensure our exceptional finish standards are met each and every time. Whether you require full scale conversion, or add just a basement conversion, Lux Construction are confident that we can offer a highly crafted and cost-effective solution to you. We consider ourselves perfectionists and take great pride in focusing on the minor details that might otherwise be overlooked.
We stand as one of a few of London based luxury conversion companies to have wholly directly employed and on-site design department based in its West London office.
With a multitude of different disciplines at our immediate disposal, we offer a pragmatic and thorough approach to each and every project, where design and build work hand in hand to cut delays and administrative costs. The client’s vision is always our target; this is kept in mind at every stage of the project to ensure that the whole team are working towards the same end goal.
We only work with hand-picked, experienced professionals that are the leaders in their respective fields; this allows us to offer our clients the very best in fully integrated turn-key services.
In order to stay ahead of our competitors, Lux Construction have invested substantially in a Cloud Based real time project management for quality assurance and task management systems. This provides us with real-time cost information and quality control data.

John Ruskin (1819-1900)
When choosing a builder, we would like to echo one of the most prominent English minds John Ruskin advice:
“It is unwise to pay too much, but it is worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money…that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the things you bought it to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot…it cannot be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder it is well to add something for the risk you run. And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better.”
Lux Construction was initially founded in 1918 by Thomas Stanius, grandfather of the present day MD. The business began as small repairs and extensions for a small but loyal client base, before expanding to larger and larger projects, both for existing and new customers.
With business taking off, Thomas was able to purchase a couple of properties as investments, whilst continuing to buy and sell others.
During the Second World War, Thomas Stanius served in the RAF, whilst the rest of the workforce was involved in defence work in the vicinity of Dover. Due to an injury sustained during this time, Thomas returned to carry on the business as usual. In the late 1930’s a large parcel of land was purchased within the grounds of Hever Castle, with the intention of housing development, however the Second World War caused the plans for this to fall by the wayside. Instead, following the war, a business branch was established, containing a small retail outlet for an emerging DIY market. It was also around this time that contracting began to play a larger part in the business.
The company continued to diversify until the founders’ death in November 1984, by which time the specialist areas were mainly masonry work and structural carpentry. The current owner, Jonas Stanius, took over the running of the business in 2006. Jonas decided to expand the trades, to deliver a single point of contact for boutique, luxury building services aimed at high end property developments.
Since the founding of the company, core values have been in place maintaining high working morale standards, where dedication to the high quality craftsmanship and skill building through apprenticeships have always been integral parts of our service delivery. A large proportion of the current staff have reached their current positions through our apprenticeship programmes, where these core values are taken on board and used as a step up into the business.
Now into its second century Lux Construction continues to expand and maintain a strong position in the market, with the invaluable experience and enthusiasm of its staff at the core of it.
